"Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. (9) They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. (10) And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless."-1 Timothy 3:8-10 Come and join us tomorrow Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 10:30a.m. for the ordination service of Richard, Tony, and Charles into the office of deacons of Christ's congregation.
Many of you have been blessed over the years by their humble service and faithfulness to direct you to Jesus Christ. We are privileged as a church to recognize them into their official capacity as they continue to live out their calling to serve God and His people. See you tomorrow morning! For the Christian, the Bible teaches that there are no mistakes, but only events that God allows us to pass through for our good. These mistakes should properly be seen for what they truly are - rebellion against God's counsel. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God." - 2 Corinthians 4:15 "For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God." - 2 Corinthians 4:15
Take full ownership of your own bad decisions, repent of the attitude and selfishness that may have led you to make them, and trust God to see you through whatever situation you currently find yourself in. God has revealed His redemptive power through Jesus Christ and can reconcile and make right any situation by His grace. So instead of dwelling on your mistakes, don't give up, pray that God would allow you to see His perfect plan is forming Jesus Christ in you through those circumstances. The report is out and it is bleak. 66% of school aged children and young adults have seen a 38% rise from 2014-2015 in sexually transmitted diseases. The U.S. is already the global leader of STD's.
The largest gender group being affected by in large is teen girls. With all the efforts to educate our children with "safer sex" methods within our public school systems and other publicly funded organizations like Planned Parenthood - it is proving to do much more harm than good. Share these stats with your kids. The safest sex to have is married, heterosexual sex. Visit the Centers for Disease Control fact sheet for more information. https://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/newsroom/docs/factsheets/STD-Trends-508.pdf ![]() If God Himself has been shown to be the catalyst to awaken the sinner unto life, fill us with His Spirit, direct us to Christ for redemption and empower us to service, why would He stop short of rescuing us for Eternity and allow us to tumble out of His grace into Hell? The verses below just begin to tell the story of God relentless commitment to the Church, one which the Devil is no match for. Hebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 6:39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 1 Peter 1:5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 John 2:25 And this is the promise that he made to us--eternal life. 1 John 2:25-26 And this is the promise that he made to us--eternal life. (26) I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. Bear in mind, this is not "Once-Saved-Always-Saved" - Which teaches that if you simply recite a prayer, that all your sins are forgiven for all eternity without any responsibility on your part. This is a supernatural work of Eternal Security, that God ensures a change in your heart and a new creation being cultivated through Jesus Christ. The question of the Christian’s confidence in inheriting eternal life is based not on our work, or ability - but instead on Jesus’ qualifications. Do you consider that Christ’s life, death, resurrection was sufficient to satisfy God’s just requirements of perfect Holiness? God is faithful to accomplish the promises that He has made on His own behalf for the sake of His bride and His glory. Rest in Christ, and manifest daily the committed faithfulness of God to the world through our washed lives. ![]() God has prescribed a very specific way for His people to serve and worship Him. Failure to abide by His ways hasn't changed since the days of Adam and Eve. “And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.” - Leviticus 10:2 ESV At first glance, this verse paints God to be some sort of short-tempered bully. However, the same God, Jesus Christ said: “But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great."” - Luke 6:49 ESV Thank God by His grace - the Holy Spirit and the revealed person of Jesus Christ through His Word will guide us into all truth. There is clear revelation through the Scripture for what God requires of His people. Find out what God desires - the Truth of His Word should always prevail and not our own wisdom, emotion, or even our pastor if it contradicts Scripture. The consequence could be devastating. Notice the attitude that characterizes a Christian. It is one of total devotion and motivation despite of any loss to gain Christ. It is a singular focus and desire to be found in Him no matter the cost.
This compelling and obsession that marks a Christian is because of the weight and gravity of the love of God to have you as His own, in spite of your sinful works against Him. John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Hosea 11:4 I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them. Jeremiah 31:3 the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. John 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, Luke 14:23 And the master said to the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Acts 3:25-26 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.' (26) God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness." 1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Philippians 3:8-21 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ (9) and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-- (10) that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, (11) that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. (12) Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (13) Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (15) Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. (16) Only let us hold true to what we have attained. (17) Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. (18) For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. (19) Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. (20) But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (21) who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Psalms 110:3 Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. When you consider your own conversion, always remember to ask yourself the question, “Why did I come, why did I see the great need for a Savior?” The answer is clear. God Himself, by His love, mercy, and grace, compelled you by the Holy Spirit and the Power of His Word to rescue you from your sin. He sovereignly gave you a new heart that would be able to respond to the Gospel call and be saved. Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. ![]() “"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 ESV Devotional: Since the True Light of Jesus Christ has been shed onto our hearts, we now have the gracious privilege of sharing that light with everyone around us. The sun cannot help but shine, and a Christian cannot help but tell of the great works Jesus has done. Prayer: Father, use my life today to bring glory to Jesus. Allow me the privilege to shine the light of Christ through my words, actions, thoughts, and intentions - that You alone would be glorified - in Jesus' mighty name I ask - Amen. 2 Ways You Can Share The Light:
Philippians 2:13 "for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." Song: Click to Hear: Casting Crowns - Until the Whole World Hears Additional reading concerning evangelism: In him was life, and the life was the light of men. - John 1:4 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? - Romans 10:14 And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. - Acts 8:31 |
